Autumn Picnic

Today was such a nice "fall" day that I asked John to join me for a little picnic - my treat. We went to Blimpie's with a "buy one, get one free" coupon. Terrible construction around the parking lot, but we persisted and went inside to order. They honored the coupon and were gracious about it; but the manager claimed to know nothing about it and it was likely meant to be used at another location! It was the coupon that got us there in the first place!!

We thought we'd find a nice park with a table, some shade and a tree or two, so we started out at Lone Peak Park. We took our food and sat at a table only to have three youngsters 3-4 years of age run between the tables screaming at the top of their voices. We picked ourselves up and left, driving to a park just west of our senior center. We followed a maintainence truck into the parking lot, and saw a cute gazebo up the hill. We thought that would be a nice private spot for lunch with a terrific view, but the truck proceeded that way, so we decided they must be planning to have lunch at that one gazebo, so we let them have it and went to the pavillion instead. We sat down and opened our sandwiches and began our lunch only to have the same workers come by mowing and edging the lawn.....and they started right by us even though the whole place has considerable grass that could have been mowed first!! We smiled and ate on....until some yellow-jackets smelled our lunch and began sniffing our food. By this time we were desparate for lunch and about out of patience, although I admit we spent most of the time smiling. I guess it was just not meant to be!! No picnic today!! We took our food home and ate at the kitchen table!! At least there were no screaming children, lawn-mowers, edgers, or yellow-jackets! Enjoyed the company!
